Its first weekly blogging series! We are very excited in talking with all of you regarding cheer and tumbling. Why? Because it's what we live for!! Most of the coaches at ASAC/NJP have cheered for years and it's the love of the sport that drives us to want to make all of you amazing athletes. That is why we want to bring you weekly words of advice that will get you going during your week while you go to the gym. We will post one day, each week, but not the same day each week. It can be any day. So keep an eye out on our Facebook page for updates!
Now, what kind of words of advice will we have for you today? Um... oh, WE KNOW! Isn't there a competition this weekend? Competition season has arrived and we are getting the jitterbugs just thinking about it. Below are a couple of thoughts to keep in mind that might help you out in feeling prepared:
1. Energy levels: This is a biggie guys. Every cheerleader everywhere has done many full outs and have felt either exhausted, or ready to go again afterward. Sometimes it depends on how you feel going into the full out. Before each practice ask yourself: How do I feel today? A great way to feeling great is to get plenty of sleep the night before, eat foods that will give you natural energy like carbs, fruits, and juices, and stretching before bed and when you wake up. All of these activities and more will get your muscles in tip top condition!!
2. Routine Awareness: Everyone has probably done their routine a million and one times. You have done the same jumps, same tumbling, and same dance a million times. You probably can do your routine in your sleep. A lot of people say that is a great thing. Knowing your routine like the back of your hand is what will get you to perform your best. When you can perform your skills great without having to put too much thought into it, you can then focus on skills that you know might be tough for you. Keep in mind where you are great, and where you may not be great. Know where to put your focus and you'll always land on top!!
